ST1: The Matter Information Fabric¶

Covering the subtopic data, DMA-ST1 addresses the digitization of large-scale infrastructures at all levels. This includes especially the technological synergies between data life cycle management, the setup and operation of distributed systems as well as the principles of FAIR data management and Open Science, but also the synergies between the various facilities and communities within Matter. DMA-ST1 tries to realise a sustainable implementation of a federated compute infrastructure for the complete data life cycle while supporting existing standards and development efforts in corresponding partner projects. This will need entirely new approaches and a federal platform which supports the synergy of digital and human resources on a harmonised hard- and software level.

In the proposal for DMA, the following milestones have been defined:

As a preparation for the workshop for milestone DMA-4 and the gap analysis for milestone DMA-5, a questionnaire was issued to the participating sites and their respective communities. A very high level overview on the topics raised in this questionnaire and the DMA-4 workshop in November 2023 is depicted in the following wordcloud picture:

A comprehensive white paper is in preparation.

In addition to the workshop, regular meetings are held. We aim to have one seminar presentation on ST1 relevant topics once per month. The past presentations can be found in our indico space
